Caroline
was born deaf as well as her twin sister. They
are amusing children and both are very happy.
However, they face difficult times, this is
because of the stigma that has been placed on
them because of their deafness. In Uganda,
giving birth to twins is a glorious honor for
the parents. The parents receive a new name to
respect and honor them. The father receives the
title of
Salongo and the mother
Nalongo ( father and
mother of twins). But to the parents of Caroline
and her twin sister, it is a shame, because many
people believe deafness to be a curse.
Caroline
and her deaf twin sister do not share in the
joy, honor and respect twin children typically
receive in Uganda. Therefore, we are committed
to share in their lives by providing them an
education that will give them back their sense
of belonging and a meaningful life. I call upon
any one who would like to share in the life of
Caroline, to help her receive an education. She
has not yet been to school, but we are hoping
to have her in our classes soon. God bless you
as you share in Caroline’s life.
